La Excusa Perfecta

Fronteras y Ecos · Track 01 · 3:59

The Cornerstone

Every meaningful journey begins with a reason, though that reason is not always the real one.

Sometimes life introduces extraordinary people through the most ordinary circumstances: a phone call, a favor, a question, or a simple request that appears insignificant in the moment. Looking back, those small moments can become the doorway through which an entirely new chapter of life quietly enters.

La Excusa Perfecta explores that idea. The business was never the story. The orders, products, registration numbers, and conversations were simply the language two people used to remain connected. Beneath every practical reason was a far more personal desire—to hear a familiar voice one more time.

The song opens Fronteras y Ecos because every journey begins with something that, at first, seems unimportant. Only years later do we recognize it as the moment everything changed.

Story Behind the Song

La Excusa Perfecta is inspired by the unexpected way a personal connection grew from what appeared to be an ordinary business conversation.

She called asking for help with a registration number and later introduced products, orders, goals, and opportunities. On the surface, the conversations had practical purposes. Beneath them, however, another connection was beginning to form.

As time passed, small requests became reasons to call again. A product, an order, or a favor could reopen the conversation without either person having to explain the more personal reason behind it.

The song looks back on those moments with affection and clarity. Neither person truly needed another business discussion. What they wanted was the opportunity to remain present in each other’s life for just a little longer.

Rather than presenting the beginning as a dramatic declaration of love, the song remembers the quiet rituals people sometimes create to preserve a meaningful connection. The perfect excuse was never the business. It was the bridge that allowed two people to keep finding their way back to each other.

Lyrics

es

Verso 1

Volviste a llamar, no para pedir perdón

Sino para pedirme un número de inscripción

“Necesito tu apoyo”, dijiste aquella vez

Y terminé en tu mundo sin saber muy bien por qué

Pre-Coro

Me enseñabas productos para detener el tiempo

Mientras yo gastaba el mío buscando otro encuentro

Coro

La excusa perfecta nunca fue el negocio

Ni los pedidos que llegaban por error

Era encontrar cualquier motivo

Para escuchar de nuevo tu voz

Tú hablabas de metas y de nuevos clientes

Yo fingía prestar atención

Pero detrás de cada llamada

Seguía latiendo el corazón

Y aunque el tiempo cambiara el rumbo

Y la distancia hiciera su labor

Siempre encontrábamos la forma

De dejar una puerta entre los dos

Verso 2

Me pediste que te consiguiera unas cosas

Y yo ya sabía dónde iba a terminar

Porque detrás de cada encargo pequeño

Siempre había una razón para llamar

Bridge

“Reclamo territorio”, escribiste desde la oficina

Y cerré la computadora al ver tu línea

Tú vendías promesas de eterna juventud

Yo compraba cualquier excusa para volver a estar junto a ti

Coro Final

La excusa perfecta nunca fue el negocio

Ni las cifras ni la prosperidad

Era saber que todavía existía

Un puente sobre la distancia

Y aunque el tiempo ganara terreno

Y la vida cambiara el color

Seguimos usando las mismas palabras

Mucho después de terminar la conversación

Outro

Quizás el negocio terminó hace años

Y los pedidos dejaron de llegar

Pero algunas claves sobreviven al tiempo

Y todavía me saben encontrar

Porque hay historias que terminan

Y otras que simplemente se van

Quedando suspendidas en el aire

Esperando una razón para volver a llamar

Studio Notes

La Excusa Perfecta serves as the opening track and first narrative doorway into Fronteras y Ecos.

Its purpose is to introduce the relationship through an ordinary moment rather than through a grand romantic declaration. The conversational language allows the listener to enter the story naturally, as though overhearing the beginning of something neither person fully understood at the time.

The recurring references to products, orders, customers, and business goals create the public explanation for the conversations. Beneath that surface, the lyrics reveal the emotional reason the calls continued.

The song establishes one of the album’s central themes: people often find small, indirect ways to remain connected when speaking openly would require them to admit more than they are prepared to say.

Musically, the song should feel warm, intimate, and reflective. It is not meant to sound like a dramatic confession. It should feel like someone remembering an old conversation and finally understanding what it truly meant.
